Santa's Naughty
List
December 20, 2008
Christmas
is just a few days away – and law enforcement has their
own list of who is most likely to get coal in their
stockings this year.
He’s making
a list, he’s checking it twice… he’s gonna find out
who’s naughty or nice….
And with
just a few days left this holiday season, Santa isn’t
the only one checking that list. Lee County Sheriff Mike
Scott is checking it, too.
“Your
murderers, your robbers – those are the people we
desperately need to get off the street and we need the
community to help us through the Crime Stoppers
program," said Lee County Sheriff Mike Scott.
These are
the faces of violent criminals and fugitives still
waiting for their day behind bars. Some have robbed
banks and local businesses – some even stand accused of
murder.
They’re
fugitives from the law – and just one anonymous phone
call from the public on their whereabouts could have
them spending their holiday season singing the jailhouse
blues.
Thanks to
the public, more than 400 criminals have been arrested
this year from anonymous Crime Stoppers tips. For that
information, we’ve given out more than $120,000 in
rewards. That’s cash money straight in your pocket – no
questions asked.
But there
are still more bad guys out there – who we hope your
information can help track down.
“It’s one of
those things where so much has been accomplished, but
there is still so much work to be done," Scott said.
Take a look
at these photos – in many cases, detectives are simply
looking for names to put with the faces. Even the
smallest pieces of information can be helpful – and rest
assured that any information you provide will be kept in
the highest of confidences and no one will ever know you
called.
“This is a
year-end push – let’s start the new year out right with
a couple of last minute guys thrown in jail – unsolved
crimes – that little spark of information so that
detectives can move forward with an arrest. That’s what
we’re looking for," Scott said.
Anyone with
information on the whereabouts of a wanted criminal, or
information on an unsolved crime, can call Crime
Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477). All callers will
remain anonymous and will be eligible for up to $1,000
in cash rewards. Tips may also be made online at
