Southwest Florida Crime Stopper’s Press Release:  ID’s Needed in Publix Liquor Store Theft

Southwest FloridaCrime Stoppers is asking for the public’s help in identifying two males and three females responsible for the theft of about a dozen bottles of liquor valued at approximately $400.00. 

On October 12, 2012, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office responded to Publix Liquor, 13401 Summerlin Rd., Fort Myers in reference to a grand theft.  The investigation revealed that the suspects entered the store in two separate groups.  One or more of the suspects engaged in a conversation with the cashier while the others disbursed throughout the store.  A loss prevention officer, standing outside, was alerted by the cashier as the suspects exited with the merchandise.  Unfortunately, he was unable to stop them in the parking lot and they left in a gold Chevrolet Caprice that fled northbound on Summerlin Rd.

Detectives assigned to investigate have recovered photos from surveillance cameras of the five suspects responsible for the theft.  The female suspects removed the bottles of liquor from the store in the large purses they are seen carrying.
