Silly Rabbit, vandalism is for crooks

After more than a month of repeat incidents of vandalism, Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers is asking for the public’s help tracking down an artistic vandal – who has seemingly proclaimed themselves as the “Silly Rabbit.”

Since October, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office has received several reports of vandalism on barrier walls, public bathrooms and buildings.  In each incident, the suspect has spray painted the words “Silly Rabit” and/or “SR.”  In addition to targeting hot spots including Lakes Park, the Punta Rassa boat ramp and the Summerlin Road corridor in Fort Myers, at least seven additional reports of the same style graffiti has been reported at Edison State College’s Fort Myers campus on College Parkway.  In addition to the graffiti, there have been several thousand dollars in damage to vending machines at some of those locations – though its unknown whether the vandal and the thieves are one of the same.  Detectives say the “Silly Rabbit” is persistent, and in one case, the graffiti was covered up one afternoon, only for employees to find a second round of new art painted in the same spot early the next morning.

While the suspect(s) in these cases currently face misdemeanor charges separately, if they can all be linked, felony charges could be in their future.

Anyone with information on the person(s) responsible for the tagging and vandalism is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477).  All callers will remain anonymous and will be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.  Tips may also be made online at www.swflcrimestoppers.org or by texting a tip to CRIMES (274637) Keyword: REWARD.

We always remind people even with a signage not to write anything on the wall but then there's such kind of person who really can't understand. Vandalism is a bad habit, peple should learn to value things around them. -sports photography
